Because I reached 50 y old, and because I had a really tough year (mentally and physically) I really needed a fresh and windy air to peacefull my mind and body; Because I always dreamt to reach this island: I love her history, her celtic past, her tradition, her still vivid culture of music and dance, her franc way of communication, her diversified geography, I even learned Gaelic at University: this summer, we went to Ireland for 2 weeks.
We left Angoulême the 20th July: Didi and Dada helped us
to carry our luggages to the train station.
We stayed in Bordeaux one night: we walked from the station to National Opera.
And after an early breakfast
on Monday 21th we took the plane to Dublin.
It was a small one by Aer Lingus,
the flight was short and smooth so it was ok for Amané
who can be really ill in plane.
Arriving in Dublin !
Our hotel was in the center, near the Liffey.
We soon joined Temple's bar:
coloured pubs and bricks !
We could hear the seagulls and the music
from the pubs at the same time !!
Music and vivid colors !!
Our first irish lunch !
The wonderfully decorated Temple bar.
Streets and colours...
We walked to Christ church cathedral (XI century)
and her special bridge.
Walking around...
To reach St Patrick cathedral XII century:
St Patrick is Ireland big boss...!
We noticed a lot of flags everywhere in the city:
flag for pride, for Palestina, for the comté;
In the cathedral they were more:
they represent the different regiments after each war...
they are never replaced...
Inside, when we arrived, a choral was singing:
it was really beautiful.
With some seats we can find cushions made of canvas
which are used to pray on your knees without pain:
we found one for Amané, with a fox !
We could also see inside, the Jonathan Swift's and his wife tombs.
Then we walked in a subburb less touristic,
where we could find some houses more modestes,
but still made by bricks with colors !!
We then reached the Chester Beatty square,
made to honour the policemen (Guarda).
There were a lot of different kind of flowers
we will see all along our road trip,
and a funny sculpture.
This square is just near the Dublin's Castle
so the melted architecture is quite surprising !
We went to the Dublin castle.
Amané noticed that even in institution places
we can find a flag for pride.
An other subburb
in order to reach Temple bar.
to find a nice place for dinner:
second pub, first fish and chips:
enormeous !!!
